ST Engineering, WDA ink agreement on SkillsFuture initiatives

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Singapore Technologies Engineering (ST Engineering) and the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) was signed on Wednesday (Jul 15), to signal the former’s commitment to the national SkillsFuture movement.

The MoU underscores ST Engineering’s plans to collaborate with WDA on the following initiatives:

  • SkillsFuture Earn and Learn programme
  • SkillsFuture Study Awards
  • SkillsFuture Fellowships
  • Sectoral Manpower Plans

For instance, it said it will identify and sponsor at least 100 technical staff in areas such as aerospace engineering, marine engineering, precision engineering, logistics management and infocomm technology for the SkillsFuture Earn and Learn programme over the next three years.

It will also nominate its experienced employees to acquire deep specialised skills through the SkillsFuture Study Awards, to develop the careers of its employees, according to the press release.

The company will also support some of these employees in the pursuit of mastering their skills via the SkillsFuture Fellowships, it added.

The MoU was signed by Mr Vincent Chong, ST Engineering’s deputy CEO for Corporate Development, and Mr Ng Cher Pong, chief executive of WDA, and was witnessed by Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and National Development.
