The Bloomberg Square Mile Relay returns for the fourth year on 27 October 2016. The last three years welcomed more than 460 corporate teams who competed in the unique one-mile relay race across the Central Business District of Singapore from The Promontory @ Marina Bay.

The race culminates in a celebratory after-race party, where runners and supporters enjoy food, drinks and live entertainment throughout the evening as teams cross the line and race results are delivered.

The annual Singapore race is part of a well-established global series that started in London in 2007 and has now expanded to seven major financial cities across the world including Dubai, Hong Kong, New York, Sydney and Shanghai.

“Bloomberg is delighted to continue our global sponsorship of the Square Mile Relay, and especially so in Singapore as we have established the race firmly in the city’s sporting calendar. We have had a presence in Singapore for over 25 years and place high priority in staying involved with the community that we operate in. The race is closely associated to our values of collaboration and speed, and it’s going to be exciting to see so many of our clients, employees and industry peers run alongside one another for their chosen charities,” said Andrea Mosconi, Head of Bloomberg, ASEAN.

The Bloomberg Square Mile Relay differs from other sporting events with around 1,500 employees from corporate organisations across the city forming teams of 10 runners who individually have to complete a one-mile (1.6km) course before handing the baton over to their team mate.

The team with the fastest cumulative time for 10 one-mile laps will be awarded with a S$10,000 cash prize to be donated to a charity of their choice, and bragging rights as the ‘Fastest Firm in the City’ – Macquarie Group have won on all three previous occasions but with a new race route this year, this may provide an opportunity for other companies to challenge the reigning champion.

Committed to giving back to the local community, the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay will also continue its long-standing charitable partnership with the SportCares Foundation by funding an annual running programme for children and young adults with the aim to inspire a new generation of sporting talent.

Past beneficiaries of the programme have even been able to embark on professional training with the Singapore Sports School.

The Bloomberg Square Mile Relay will take place at 7pm on 27 October 2016 at The Promontory @ Marina Bay. Corporates can register their team entry via the event’s official website (www.squaremilerelay.com/singapore) and enjoy early bird discount of S$1,395 from now until Friday, 2 September.
