As part of its efforts to improve the job search experience for users in India, global tech giant Google rolled out a new search experience that allows jobseekers to find relevant employment opportunities for them in easier and quicker manner.

To achieve this end, Google has worked with various job listing platforms and companies across industries including LinkedIn, IBM Talent Management Solutions, Aasaanjobs, Freshersworld, Headhonchos, Quezx, QuikrJobs, Shine.com, T-Jobs, TimesJobs, as well as Wisdomjobs for the offering.

Commenting on the product launching on Tuesday (Apr 24), Google’s Vice President India and Southeast Asia Rajan Anandan stated that more than 45 percent increase was recorded in the number of job search queries during the fourth quarter of 2017. Of this number, he noted, over 50 percent search was done through mobile phones, The Times of India reports.

Mr. Anandan further explained that small and medium businesses (SMEs) as the largest job-creators in the country often find it difficult to list these opportunities online. Therefore, Google is aiming to help make jobs offered at these companies more discoverable for talents in India. It has also released open documentation that will assist partner organisations to help job providers.

“We want to make discovery of relevant jobs easier and help people find opportunities that are near them… This new job search experience, powered by our partners and our open platform approach, attempts to bridge the gap (between employers and workforce),” he added.

With the new search feature, users can see a special module with job listings when searching for terms such as ‘jobs near me’, ‘jobs for fresh graduates’, or other similar queries. When they click on any job under this listing, it will open an at-a-glance view information including job title, location, and job types such as full-time or part-time, as well as other important details. Going from there, users can directly proceed to the job listing page on the partner’s website and apply there.
