According to data from job site Indeed, job seekers across the country are showing greater interest in working remotely amid the COVID-19 crisis. Job seekers are increasingly searching for terms like ‘remote’, ‘work from home’ and related phrases. Searches for remote work have also increased by 183 percent, as a share of all searches on Indeed Singapore, compared with its January and February average.
Commenting on the trend, Callam Pickering, APAC Economist at Indeed said, “With Singaporeans in self-isolation in response to the COVID-19 health crisis, the ability to work from home has never been more desirable. Our data shows that COVID-19 has accelerated an existing trend towards flexibility and remote work.
Jobs that can be performed remotely appear more resistant to economic disruption, at least in the case of a pandemic, which may make these jobs more appealing to future job seekers.”
Jobseekers searching for remote work have driven sharp month-on-month increases in specific searches for specific job titles, with content writer and telemarketer topping the list, followed by administrative support, business facilitation and content production roles.
