The industries of focus in response to demand will be commercial, residential, hospitality, institutional, telecommunications and industrial.
Dean Stallard, Regional Director of Hays in Hong Kong, says, “Hong Kong’s engineering sector is experiencing strong job numbers and we have seen salaries steadily rising for engineering professionals – a sure sign of increasing demand.”
According to Hays Engineering job vacancies have risen for engineers, drafters, technicians and design managers in Hong Kong, especially within engineering consultancies and contractors.
“A number of projects in Hong Kong, Macau and mainland China are tapping into Hong Kong’s consulting expertise and driving up demand for skilled professionals,” says Dean.
He adds, “In Hong Kong, demand has been created by new high rise construction and fit out projects, the government land sale programme, development of the West Kowloon Cultural District, and the MTR Stations and Kai Tak Airport redevelopment. So the market is very active and is creating career-advancing opportunities for skilled engineering professionals.”
