KUALA LUMPUR: Workers who have yet to receive minimum wages that were implemented in January this year can lodge complaints with the Labour Department.
Deputy Human Resource Minister Datuk Ismail Abd Mutallib said they have the right to make claims for such payments from their employers.
He said the Labour Department can investigate and take action concerning minimum wages.
“If the employer fails to prove mimimum wages have been paid to the workers who sought claims, an order will be issued to the employer to pay the outstanding wages claimed,” he told Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid (PKR-Kuala Langat) during the question-and-answer session in Parliament.
Ismail said up till Oct 31, 970 claims relating to the failure of the employer to fulfil the minimum wage order were received nationwide.
