SINGAPORE: An integrated community and lifestyle facility in Tampines, touted to be the first of its kind, is expected to create some 900 jobs, said MP for the GRC and Minister for Environment and Water Resources Masagos Zulkifli on Sunday (Aug 7).

Mr Masagos added that residents can already start applying for these jobs.

The facility, named Our Tampines Hub, will be opened in three phases starting from November. Some of the amenities ready by then will include a hawker centre with a tray return system. When the hub is fully ready in June next year, it will feature swimming pools and a stadium.

Speaking at a preview of the facility, Mr Masagos also gave an update on Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat’s health.

Mr Heng, who is recovering from a stroke, is also an MP for the GRC.

“He has been in touch with us through emails, as well as one conversation with him, which I was very happy to have,” said Mr Masagos, adding that Mr Heng expressed concern over the community and how they were coping.

“He’s very happy that we are letting him have his rest, so that he can come back as soon as possible after he has recovered.”
