SINGAPORE: A job fair targeting some 500 retrenched workers from IT company HGST was held on Thursday, less than a month after they were laid off.
HGST, which manufactures high-end hard disks, retrenched its workers on December 27 last year.
The job fair, put together by the United Workers of Electronics & Electrical Industries and e2i, saw some 500 registrants, with about 100 from HGST.
Organisers said the fair is also open to the public.
Twenty-six companies, mainly from the manufacturing industry, took part in the fair.
They are hoping to hire 800 workers from Thursday’s fair.
