Indonesian Association of Employers (APINDO) has entered into a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with regional management consulting firm SRW&Co. to develop leadership development programs for the Indonesian business leaders and government policy makers.

The MOU covers the promotional efforts by both organizations for the ASEAN Global Leadership Programs (AGLP) and ASEAN Leadership Programs (ALP) for the Indonesian business and government leaders. The Executive Director of APINDO, Agung Pambudhi signed the MOU on behalf of APINDO while SRW&Co. is being represented by the Chairman and Partner of SRW&Co., Daniel Wong.

The ASEAN Global Leadership Programs (AGLP) is the annual flagship leadership programs launched by SRW&Co. in collaboration with the Ivy League business schools and universities in Europe, China and the USA.  The AGLP was a custom designed 5-day program focusing on the 4 key themes of Globalization, Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Leadership.

The programs aim to provide a learning platform for the participants to address the challenges and opportunities in the AEC context, while promoting business networking for the participants from the South East Asia countries.

The first AGLP was launched in 2009 in collaboration with the University of Cambridge Judge Business School, followed by the Cheung Kong Graduate of Business in China, the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, and the London Business School in UK.

To date, the AGLP Alumni comprises of some 250 top executives at the C-suite and Board level in the corporate sector, including policy makers and regulators from the public sector. SRW&Co. believed the AGLP will provide the global exposure for the Indonesian leaders together with their peers from the region.

Daniel Wong, Chairman and Partner of SRW&Co., while expressing his confidence in the new partnership with APINDO, said, “We are glad to forge this timely partnership with APINDO, in promoting and enhancing leadership competencies and capacities of the ASEAN leaders”.

Besides the annual AGLP in Europe, China and the USA, there is plan to launch an ASEAN Leadership Program (ALP) in the region in 2017. “We would like to bring the programs closer to home, and enable the companies to optimize their training investments by sending more leaders to the programs, especially targeting at the next echelon of leaders below the C-suite and Board level who also need the exposure and development to take on bigger leadership roles,” Wong mentioned.

Both SRW&Co. and APINDO will also collaborate in organizing international and local seminars and workshops, and a key area of interest is to undertake research and case study on issues related to management, business and economy at large in collaboration with the business school partners of SRW&Co.

The same commitment for leadership development for the business leaders is being echoed by the Executive Director of APINDO, Agung Pambudhi, who believes that one of the key drivers for business success and sustainability is the Leadership factor.

“There is a need to develop the capacity and capability of our leaders to ensure the delivery of successful business performance” and, “Indonesia and its ASEAN neighbours share a common challenge of developing a talent pool of leaders in both the corporate and public sector to work hand in hand in developing the national economy,” Agung opined.

He added that APINDO believes the collaboration with SRW&Co., and its consortium of world class business schools will assist and support APINDO in its mission of developing competent leaders to lead and drive the transformation and development of Indonesian economy.
