Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech) enters into an agreement with eight schools to provide about 300 students, an opportunity to work with public agencies in Singapore and resolve the technology issues.
These agreements were signed with institutes of higher learning to include the five polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education, Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and Singapore University of Technology and Design, to help students gather technical know-how by working on real-life technical issues faced by public sector agencies.
Through these partnerships, GovTech plans to provide students with exposure through Internships, final-year projects, and attachments to give students hands-on experience.
Some of the potential projects with the Singapore University of Technology and Design include automated detection and execution of security measures to protect wireless networks from external attacks, Channel News Asia reports.
Some of the possible projects under SIT include, smart assisted healthcare to enable active ageing such as to help elderly go through physiotherapy exercises on their own.

Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), vice-president of industry and community Ivan Lee said, the institution is focusing on strengthening cyber physical securities in non-enterprise infrastructure including the Internet of Things (IoTs) often vulnerable to cyber attacks.
Jacqueline Poh, chief executive of GovTech believes these agreements will help develop Singapore’s next generation of tech talent and support the Smart Nation initiative.
The agency will also continue to tap into its current InnoLeap programme, which connects institutes of higher learning, research institutes and commercial entities to work together to resolve tech challenges faced by public sector agencies.
Having launched in August 2014, InnoLeap has conducted 21 sessions to include about 1,000 participants from more than 70 organisations and close to 90 public sector agencies.
