MORE help is likely on the way soon for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) which are struggling with the tight labour market and rising costs of doing business.
Minister of State for Trade and Industry Teo Ser Luck told Parliament yesterday that the government is looking at enhancing some of its existing schemes for SMEs and may make some announcements at next month’s Budget.
Mr Teo was responding to queries from Nominated MP R Dhinakaran, who wanted to know if the government had any specific plans to address the challenges that SMEs have to deal with.
Mr Teo said the government was keeping a close watch on the industries that are affected by the tightened quotas on foreign manpower.
